Javier Tebas Medrano (San Jose, Costa Rica, 1962), of Spanish nationality, holds a degree in Law from the University of Zaragoza. His involvement in football began in 1993, when he was named president of Sociedad Deportiva Huesca. In 2001 Tebas was elected as vice-president of LaLiga. In 2003 he was named head of the so-called G-30, a group representing 30 LaLiga clubs which worked on the joint negotiation of their audiovisual rights. Since 26 April 2013 Tebas has acted as president of LaLiga.
Upon taking up the LaLiga presidency, Javier Tebas identified his main objective as being to reduce club debts. In the space of just one year, LaLiga's efforts in this area saw the debts owed by its member clubs to the Tax Agency fall by 25%. The joint sale of audiovisual rights for the 2016/2017 season is set to see the LaLiga clubs experience a significant increase in their revenues. One of the main achievements during his term as president has been securing the centralised sale of audiovisual rights for the 2016/17 season brought in by Royal Decree-Law 5/2015, which will allow LaLiga clubs to significantly increase their revenues.
Other pillars of his work are undoubtedly the fight against piracy and the fight against any kind of violence in football. He has achieved very positive results on these two fronts, as well as with the transparency policy of the organisation itself. Innovation, technological development and internationalisation also represent other essential parts of his strategy. During these years he has increased the presence of LaLiga beyond Spanish borders, with offices in the United Arab Emirates, the United States, China, South Africa, Nigeria, India and Singapore. As a result of this internationalisation, foreign interest in LaLiga broadcasting rights continues to grow, allowing people in more and more corners of the world to watch the Spanish league.

Besides the continuous need for capability building across all marketing and communications teams, the biggest challenge is to leverage and cross-measure all consumer touch points in an integrated, consistent and personalized way across our bought, earned and owned media channels across multiple devices, in a world where consumers are in control and where media is more and more fragmented.

Sky Sports F1 Commentator
Once upon a time a young man used to watch sport on the TV and wish he could be the commentator. He’d go and kick a ball outside, or ride his bike around the block and pretend that he was the man behind the microphone. Imitating his commentary heroes and dreaming that one day he could do this for real.
Well, fast forward 40 years or so and that dream has indeed become reality for Crofty. What started out with a 1 month contract to work for BBC Local Radio in 1996 has resulted in a broadcasting career that has now seen him establish himself as the voice of F1, not just in the UK on Sky Sports F1, but around the world with Crofty’s commentaries being carried in over 65 different territories.
While Formula 1 celebrated it’s 1000th World Championship Race recently, one race later, Crofty picked up the mic for his 250th Grand Prix as a commentator, meaning that his voice has been heard now on a quarter of all the world championship races ever run.
Away from the racetrack Crofty also presents and commentates on World Championship Darts for Sky Sports, having covered his first world championship back in 2002. Before joining Sky Sports, Crofty worked for BBC Radio 5-Live, presenting Sport on 5 and covering the 2002 Football World Cup and 2004 Olympic Games amongst many other highlights. As well, of course, as becoming the stations Formula 1 correspondent back in 2006.
Those gamers amongst us would recognise Crofty’s voice from each of the last 10 editions of Codemasters F1 video games too and he has featured as a narrator for the film ‘The Green Hell’ about the epic Nordschleife race track as well as appearing in the UK version of the Disney animation film ‘Planes’ as ‘Lofty Crofty’ the airship commentator.
Crofty was born and raised in Stevenage, as was the 5 time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. One had speed, one had the words to describe it and both are still living the dream.
